Doing True Good - Second Chances
The god of second chances is at work again as noted in this opinion piece by Cynthia Tucker, Another Morehouse Man reaching for the stars”
The opinion is about Genarlow Wilson, the Georgia boy who at 17 had consenting oral sex with a 15-year-old girl, was incorrectly sentenced to 10 years of prison because of a bad state law that was later overturned by the state supreme court.
Second chances don’t wipe out the fact or possible consequences that there were some bad decisions made by all the young people involved, and I hope they are making better decisions today.
Every day, every moment is a chance to give your self a second chance. You might not be dealing with a major difference in life options (being in prison or not; or going to college for free vs. not going or struggling). Still being alive gives us the privilege of making choices and changing our choices and changing out thoughts which are the background of our choices.
Genarlow is blessed to have had concerned and benevolent people come to his aid. They made the choice to be concerned and to be benevolent and act accordingly. Now it’s up to him to do the true good and make good by giving us all a second chance to believe in and benefit from a better him. And each day we can give ourselves and others a second chance to believe in and benefit from a better us.
