What a deal! Black people, and other people of color in Seattle will have the chance “have the last word” and vote YES for the fifth (5th) time on the first truly urban transit monorail in the United States. That’s right. The new plan costs 64% less than the never approved, never submitted original plan. That’s a 64% sale/savings to Seattle. The new plan is at the Motor Vehicle Excise Tax (MVET) rate and cost that Greg Nickels (mayor) required. And the international urban infrastructure community is bewildered at his stubborn opposition.

So January 2006 we could start building the west-city transit system that is:
– time-certain
– rapid (no stop lights, traffic, no crossing gates)
– frequent (every 6 minutes, and potentially every 3 minutes - you can stop trying to memorize schedules)
– more time for what you really want to do

Seattle, please vote YES on Proposition 1 and YES on Proposition 2 - we must do this now.
