The headline is shouting from the screen,
Iraqi court rulings stop at U.S. detention sites
Military says it allowed to hold prisoners despite local law and court rulings

You start to wonder, “How plain can it get?” The problem stares us in the face and says, “Here, right here in your face! I’m the problem! Deal with me!”
Iraq sovereignty is nearly a joke. Immoral and illegal invasion… immoral and illegal occupation. The US does not and must not be allowed to own Iraq in whole or in part. Iraq must be the country of the Iraqis. Would US citizens accept Russia or China invading the US and setting up detention centers where US law stopped at the gate? US citizens would begin fighting against the invaders and occupiers and against anyone who supported them. And aren’t the military service men and women pleadged to uphold and support the U.S. Constitution above support of the “Commander in Chief”?
I mourn the millions of Iraqis who’ve suffered terribly or died because of what the Bush/Cheney regime has done. This was wrong, this is wrong and this will be wrong as long as we keep this going on.
Then you think about the military guy suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) who just recently with his brother tried to drive their car over the cliff in the Grand Canyon, ending up shooting himself and his brother to death. And you remember the cover-ups in the Veterans Administration health system, or the well-financed outfit like Blackwater (In)security private contractors. Pat Tillman’s “friendly fire” death in Afghanistan, Abu Ghraib Prison tortures. The fountain of wrong just flows and flows.
I’m sure that someone has studied and written if there are psychological blocks that we humans set-up in our minds when we don’t want to deal with hard issues; especially issues that reveal unflattering or even criminal qualities in ourselves. There must be.
It makes you start to wonder how long will we keep trying to change the subject? How long will we keep shifting our gaze trying to avoid looking into the eyes of the problem? Our own eyes.
